What do nbn Internet Providers offer

In the last decade, the Internet has become a necessity for every home. Be it running your business, paying your bills, talking to friends or doing your schoolwork includes some form of research or email use. Broadband Internet is not just a luxury , but a part of life.

Unfortunately, even in this day and age, there are some locations that cannot have Internet through cable and wire connections. As a result, they settle for outdated devices and slow Internet connections just to meet their needs.

The National Broadband Service (nbn) is being rolled out throughout Australia to provide a much faster, reliable and even affordable Internet wherever you are. Here are the four types of connections that are offered by nbn service providers:

  • Fibre cable networks – The most common and popular way to acquire the latest in Internet connection technology is through an nbn fixed line. The signals would pass through a fibre optic cable until it reaches your home through an installed device. There are three types of connections through fibre optics – (fibre to the premises) FTTP, (fibre to the node) FTTN, and (fibre to the building) FTTB.
  • Hybrid fibre coaxial – Unlike the first type, this one allows Internet connection to flow through an existing TV or cable network in the subscriber’s premises.
  • Fixed wireless connection – An nbn fixed line connection is applicable to subscribers that are located in remote or rural areas. In such areas where neighbours are located miles away, connections are made through an antenna that receives signals from a transmission tower. These towers can send signals to premises up to 14km away.
  • nbn satellite connection – Depending on the preference of the subscriber or the recommendation of nbn providers, he or she may get an nbn satellite connection. A satellite dish would be installed in the premises, and it will directly receive the Internet signals from the nbn satellite.
