Important Notice to Applicant(s) for Credit & Statement of Notifiable Matters

This notice explains how IPSTAR Australia Pty Limited (IPSTAR) may collect, use, and disclose your credit information. It is provided in compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2025, and the Telecommunications Consumer Protections Code C628:2012 (TCP Code).
1. Disclosure of credit information
Under Part IIIA of the Privacy Act 1988, IPSTAR may disclose your credit information to a credit reporting body (CRB) for purposes including:
- Assessing your application for services;
- Maintaining your credit file;
- Managing your credit account with us; and
- Recovering overdue debts.
The information that may be disclosed includes:
- Identity particulars (name, address, date of birth, sex, driver’s licence number);
- Details of your application for credit (including the amount applied for);
- The fact that IPSTAR is a current credit provider to you;
- Repayment history and overdue amounts ($150 or more, 60+ days overdue, after required notices);
- Advice that payments are no longer overdue;
- Information about serious credit infringements (e.g. fraud, deliberate non-payment); and
- That credit provided by IPSTAR has been paid or otherwise discharged.
2. Credit reporting bodies (CRBs) we use

A CRB may include information we disclose in reports to other credit providers to assist them in assessing your creditworthiness.
3. Your rights under the Privacy Act and CR Code
You are entitled to:
- Access your credit information held by IPSTAR or a CRB. CRBs must provide access within 10 working days.
- Request correction of information that is inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading. IPSTAR must respond within 30 days, or explain any delay in writing.
- Obtain a free credit report: once every 3 months, within 90 days of a credit refusal, or after a correction has been made.
- Opt out of direct marketing pre-screening: You may ask a CRB not to use your information for this purpose.
- Request a fraud ban period: If you believe you are, or are likely to be, a victim of fraud, you may request a free ban period from a CRB, during which no credit information can be disclosed.
4. Defaults and serious credit infringements
In accordance with s21C of the Privacy Act and the CR Code 2025:
- IPSTAR may only list a default if the debt is at least $150 (incl GST), is at least 60 days overdue, and you have been given the required notices (including a final 14-day notice).
- We will not list a default if the debt is subject to a genuine dispute or hardship arrangement.
- Information about serious credit infringements (e.g. fraud, deliberate non-payment) may be disclosed to a CRB.
5. Financial hardship protections
Under the Telecommunications (Financial Hardship) Industry Standard 2024 and the TCP Code:
- We will not list defaults or take enforcement action while you are being assessed for financial hardship or while an arrangement is active.
- Hardship arrangements will be confirmed in writing within 2 business days of agreement.
- If enforcement is required (e.g. non-compliance with an arrangement), you will receive at least 10 business days’ written notice before restriction, suspension, or disconnection of services.
6. Complaints and external review
If you believe we have mishandled your credit information, you may lodge a complaint with IPSTAR under our Complaint Handling Policy.
